Music Is The Most High

music has really always been a huge part of my life. i always felt that i just had this super strong bond between me and music. even when i was younger i was just always into so much different types of music. now that ive gotten a lot older and more mature, my knowledge for music and love for it has become much much stronger. i feel like i truly understand music in a totally different way then how i used to feel for it when i was younger. those days were about what sounded good or what was different etc. but music is a universal language and it shouldnt matter if what you like is cool or just cause you dont like doesnt mean its not cool. thats whats so great about it, everyone has their own different bond between them and the music they enjoy.

im pretty sure some people will stumble upon this and think im just some random kid that thinks he knows everything about music and hasnt even touched an instrument in his life, well to each his own i guess. but ask anybody that really knows me and theyll tell you that im honestly into all different genres of music. i actually do follow all of them as well. well, not all of them just the genres that im into you know? im always researching and learning more about that type of music. getting to know more artist in that area, always trying to really understand it, not just listen to it but really dig into the songs and break them apart, actually try and COMPREHEND the music. seeing the band for musicians and not just people who are making sounds that sound good to my ears.

ive meet so much people that i most likely wouldnt have even met if we didnt have some similar music interest. well that, and skateboarding of course. but music will always bring people together and make bonds between friends even tighter. and lately a group of guys i used to hang with everyday are getting really into reggae music. and they've all taken a like to the culture that it represents as well. going to shows and sharing the love for this special type of music has really brought all of us together again. and its making me realize who my real friends are. it couldnt have came at a better time.

its took me my whole life till this point to realize that i want to write about music for a living. music reviews, show reviews, band reviews and everything in between. everyone always tells you that you have to find a way to make a living doing something you love. everyone should really believe in this saying. so much peoples lives would be much easier and stress free if they did this. well what i love doing is talking to people about music, playing music, and of course along with everyone else, listening to music. hopefully when i get the chance to go back to school im going to try and really take this task on. ive never really had any REAL goals in life. but like i said, ive grown up alot and realize more than ever that now is the time to really make my life into what i want it to be. a recent trip to barns and noble with a couple of bredren has made me realize that this is what i was meant to do. play music, write about music, watch music, live with the music, listen to music, just seriously being the music.

hopefully this blog would be the spark to the fire. so im gonna use this blog as a place to write my own reviews of bands that im into, cds that ive listened to, and not just recent cds but any cd that ive rencently listened to. because when i read reviews in magazines they seem to only talk about recent ones that have came out. but why do that? why not talk about any cd that youve ever listened to? cause sometimes it takes someone elses point of view to get you to try and give something a try or mmake you understand something more.

so open your minds people and remember that everything i say in anything i write is seriously MY OPINION. try not to take it so serious if you think im wrong or something, after all im just some random kid sitting in a bookstore writing about music he loves.

  1. Sick! Do it, man. I think ALL our music tastes has changed dramatically, because we all mature & we think differently when we all get older. It's trippy. Me & Chayne talked about that one night. Like, how we all think differently from when we were in high school because our minds are maturing. & I like how we ALL still listen to all kinds, being that we all love reggae with a passion. & how music is the only thing that brings all of us together. It's crazy cuz I used to listen to just a little reggae long time ago, but that was when I was more into Underoath type shit. Now, I'm still into alla that good stuff, but just more into reggae. & I have all you guys to thank for that. I can thank all you guys for anything I listen to today.

    btw, shred soon asshole.

  2. I'm stoked that you found something you would really enjoy doing for a living. Out of all of us, you'd be the perfect, most well-qualified person to write about music dude. I always liked riding in your car because you'd play such sick music! it never even mattered what genre it was, because good music is good music, and you have a really good taste my friend.

And i think you'd be good at writing about music too, not just because of your ability to truly overstand music and all of it's aspects, but you're a smart person dude, forreal. And while I was reading your blog, it made a lot of sense and it definitely wasn't hard to understand what you meant. I like writing too...I've always liked writing, about anything (Thats why i write poetry when I'm bored haha) But yeah dude I think you have a good understanding of writing too, so yeah dude going back to school would be hella smart; just to freshen up and sharpen your writing skills. Like go into journalism...take english and writing intensive classes. I'm taking an english writing intensive class right now, and I've only had class twice and already I've learned a LOT of different and better ways to write and organize my ideas.

So yeah dude you should really stick to that dream man. It's possible and you've got the passion and drive to do it. It's sick too how you realized that through an epiphany pretty much. Do it bro...it's written in the stars.
